Google Adsense groks the world, using Adsense Deluxe, you can rock your blog to the max!

So as I’ve mentioned before, I am using a plugin for wordpress called Adsense Deluxe. First thing that I have done to get started was go through and select the coloring of the links and the background of the Adsense ad, attempting to make it look as integrated into the site as possible. The goal of adsense is to serve your customer an alternate link to a related service if they don’t find what they are looking for on your site. And you get paid. Win - Win is always a good mentality to have. After you are done selecting the size of the ad (you can preview to see how big you want it to be, etc) and you’ve selected your colors, you name the ad whatever you want and then it generates the ad code for you.

Well this didn’t appear to be as easy as I hoped in order to make the graphics display neatly on the page. So some tweaking and experimenting and I will let you know how to integrate the ads into the site.-Chad

Google Adsense - bringing targeted ads to your readers.

So today is the day that google adsense accepted my offer to become an affiliate. Pretty nifty. I’ve noticed that I’ve had about 13 people start to filter into the site, welcome aboard! I’ve been tracking the progress of incoming links using google analytics. I added some code to my front page and then google tracks the incoming and outgoing links. It shows direct type in hits to the site (friends, family members who I’ve told to give me some feedback) as well as tracking exactly what referral sites are sending you inbound links. I’ve already started to get a couple of links from RSS Hugger which is cool. Right now I’m not really in money making mode and am focusing on just generating a reader base and providing useful tips on how I’m bringing people into the site. Remember, this is an experiment using nothing but tools available to anyone out there to see what kind of traffic a site can bring in. Today’s agenda is going to be to add to the network of incoming links. Up for this weekend, I will be adding an article about a service that I will be offering for free and answering this overwhelming slew of comments that are coming in. Most of my working time each day has been spent moderating the one comment that came in :) hehe, let me know what you think of the site good or bad when you come in, I welcome the feedback.

Setting up google adsense was pretty easy. I clicked on the link that they emailed me and verified my tax status and information. Alas, it appears I will be paying taxes on the money I will be rolling in once they start sending me wild and crazy large checks. That was the first step to get my lucrative payments off ‘holding’. Then, I had to click on the pink box located under My account and tell google whether or not I want them to mail me my checks through standard mail or if I wanted to pay 30.00 to get my millions of dollars sent to me quicker. (potentially two weeks quicker) Since I am independently wealthy and am only trying to make money from blogs while working another full time job, I elected for the el-cheapo mail me the checks whenever they got around to it method. That suits me just fine. Hurray! Now I just sit back and watch the cash pour in right? Oh wait, I haven’t even displayed the ads yet. Bummer, off to the next post.

Submitting my site for traffic - Day 1 of the 4 trillion day progress.

I have embarked on generating traffic into the site. So, I’m going to sign up for blog lists and see if it garners any traffic or interest. I figure if I do a few of these a day, eventually people will come and read what I have to say about getting set up. The whole idea behind this concept is that new people to blogging are going to be putting their hearts, soul, and content on the web for people to see…but they have to get the people here to see it. So A-1 Blog list is my first submission. I’m going to continue on with other submissions and see what type of responses I get traffic wise flowing into the site. A-1 Blog list let me submit my page with just a reciprocal link. (see previous)

The next site that I submitted to is Rss Hugger Logo RSS Hugger which is a site that promotes new blogs and helps new blogs find new readers. It’s kind of a cool shopping mall for blogs. You can go in there and describe your blog and it stays on the site for ten years. The only caveat is that you have to give an honest review of their blog. As a new person, I think any kind of exposure, good or bad, is good exposure. They say that any kind of publicity is good publicity, but I think that if you are honest and you provide genuine feedback, you are going to be rewarded with good karma :). I like the color scheme of RSS Hugger and the site looks like it’s really trying to provide a great service - putting readers in touch with new and fresh blogs.
