Helpful hosting and a new forum

Wanted to give a big thanks to my host that I chose for my blogging platform. I’ve known my host provider for years and am in the process of negotiating a deal for new bloggers wanting to get started with their own blogging. Details will come in the upcoming week or two.

Also, I’m in the process of setting up a forum for folks to

post questions, get answers, and chit chat with one another. My goal at Bloggeritaville is to have a site where fresh ideas meet proven strategies and the community helps one another evolve and prosper. Everyone is welcome, from the newest person to the internet to the most seasoned coders and bloggers.

Thank you all for the feedback and support that you’ve been giving me. The site has rapidly been gaining a lot of visitors and attention and I’m really grateful to have so many people coming to my small corner of the world and looking around. Welcome!
-Chad

A new blog, a new domain name, and a new host!

Ok, so you’ve decided that you want to start a blog. You have done some research and you figure that you can either carve out your own niche in an existing field or that you can tap into an area of your personal expertise and provide enough unique content that people will want to not only read what you have to say, they will be bookmarking you and coming back for information. You are confident that you can devote several hours a week writing this unique content and maintaining your site.

I recommend that you start your first blog on a paid host. Your preferred host will provide you with around 250MB of space, access to Cpanel (an interface for modifying your site), Fantastico, and MySql. The cheapest host is frequently not the most desireable, nor is the most expensive. Try to shop for a host that has the most uptime and seems like it has a quick and friendly response to any questions you may have. The primary reason for choosing a paid host versus a free hosting service is twofold. First, you are better in control of what your visitor has displayed to them (some free sites post ads that do not generate revenue for you) and secondly it’s generally more reliable in terms of growth. You will not have to lose bookmarkers by changing at a later date if your blog grows. Expect the price range for reliable service to be in the 20-30 dollar a month range.
